I Love America
The USA is a special place. I’ve traveled around the globe and visited many nations. But I’ve never found a place quite like this place. I know everyone probably feels the same way about their home country. But their is something unique about America. From the moment Columbus convinced Ferdinand and Isabella to fund his voyage to the New World until our 234th birthday as a nation, the United States has been a grand experiment in Liberty. In fact Liberty is the primary difference between this country and the other 196 on the planet.
We cherish our God given rights in this country. In fact it’s easy to take for granted our freedoms of speech and worship and assembly. But most people on the planet do not enjoy those liberties. The kind of Liberty that we enjoy in America is not given to us by the government. They are endowed to all men by the Creator. The Founding Fathers were wise to establish a government OF the people, BY the people and FOR the people. But this grand experiment in democracy works only when the people acknowledge the Source of Liberty. The Almighty.
There are many symbols that tell the America story. Plymouth Rock. The Washington Monument. The Lincoln Memorial. The Statue of Liberty. But perhaps they all pale in comparison to the flag. The Stars and Stripes tell the story of a free people. One Nation Under God with Liberty and Justice for All. I still stand to my feet and cover my heart whenever we sing the National Anthem. Maybe that’s why I love watching football so much.
I Love America.
