mardi gras holiday

— Pastor Doug February 24, 2009 @ 4:45 pm

We are spending a few days in the mountains. It seems like many people in Louisiana had the same idea. Lots of Louisiana license plates here. Some snow still on the ground, but overall it’s quiet and beautiful. We plan to be home for the weekend worship at Journey. See you then.

hot and holy sex life

— Pastor Doug February 21, 2009 @ 10:29 pm

I hope your sex life is hot and holy. Part 4 of the Ogre series is about marriage and sex, and it’s my prayer that every married couple finds renewed passion in the bedroom. Sex was God’s idea and it is a divine gift to humanity. Use your gift wisely. At the close of the message we are issuing the 7 DAY CHALLENGE. Here’s the challenge, for the next 7 days make love to your spouse at least once each day. Every day. For 7 days in a row. Are you ready for the challenge? Let the games begin.

1000 churches in the congo

— Pastor Doug February 11, 2009 @ 12:51 pm

Nearly 1,000 of the churches in our Fellowship are under great persecution in Africa. The Democratic Republic of the Congo is in the midst of a civil war. More than 4 million people have died there during the last decade. A number of AG people and pastors have escaped to refugee camps, and many more have fled into the forest and are living without shelter and foraging for food. One of our AG pastors was recently assassinated, leaving behind his wife and 8 children. It was clearly not a random killing, but a targeted assassination. Churches are being targeted and burned in small villages and big towns. More die each day. Many of the displaced spend their nights under the stars without shelter, food, or medication.
Recently the AGWM’s award-winning photographer Gaylon Wampler was sent to the region to capture the violence in pictures. Many of those photos will appear in the March edition of TPE. That’s the monthly AG Magazine. I will be giving out free copies of that issue during the weekend Experiences of  March 14 & 15. Pray for the pastors and churches in the Congo. for more info- www.tpe.ag.org

momentum is on a roll

— Pastor Doug February 5, 2009 @ 9:03 am

Momentum ( Journey’s youth group ) is on a roll. We started a new series last night called ‘The Dell’. It’s a series of messages focused on relationships. And we also launched our two service format. There is a Jr. High Experience at 6.45 PM followed by a 7.30 PM Experience for High School. 248 young men and women filled the two services. I’m really proud of the Big MO Leadership Team. Great job Pastor Ryan and Nicole.

‘i married an ogre’ series

— Pastor Doug February 1, 2009 @ 11:04 pm

We launched a new series this weekend and it’s all about relationships. In Part1 we were teaching about the life of David and his princess wife. David came out of nowhere to become a rock star overnight. And he landed the prettiest girl in the kingdom. Not to bad for an unknown 17 year old goat-herder, huh? To illustrate the message, we are performing skits using the Shrek characters. In this episode, Fiona discovers that Shrek is an Ogre. The princess was greatly disappointed.
Today the sub-title was, ‘you’re NOT what I expected’. That’s the way it is in a long term relationship, isn’t it?  We discover that the love of our life has flaws. Deep, scary flaws. Then we spend our lives learning to love our spouse in spite of the flaws and to help each other to overcome the flaws. Quite a journey.Pictures… photographer: P.R. Davis
