20/20 vision

— Pastor Doug November 30, 2008 @ 8:29 pm

One amazing thing about a believer is that one day he will live in eternity. But what’s even more amazing is that TODAY eternity can live in him. The kingdom of God is near you Jesus said, even IN your heart. I think that’s how God imparts vision to us. We catch a glimpse at what the Father is busy creating and He invites us to join Him in His work. The birth of a vision is when the Super connects to the Natural. The eternal overtakes the mortal. And we find ourselves fully engaged in the Father’s business. A brief glimpse into the other world can fuel your faith for years. Cause you to believe for the impossible. How’s your vision?

The Christmas production is in full blown rehearsal mode. Christmas at Journey is going to be off the charts this year. Music. Dancing. Laughter. Angels. The Greatest Story Ever told. Three shows: Saturday December 20th at 6PM and Sunday December 21st at 9 & 11 AM. I took a few pictures today of one of the scenes.

Jesse has left the building

— Pastor Doug @ 3:58 pm

Jesse Duplantis spoke at both of our Sunday Morning worship Experiences. He was in top form today. Funny as always, and loaded with WORD. He preached two different messages. The 9 AM was from Genesis 1. He said it’s easy to get people out of debt, the hard thing is to get debt out of people. That’ll preach. The 11 AM was from Jonah. It was titled ,”Who’s  In The Bottom of Your Boat?” They were both great. Thanks for coming to Journey today Jesse.

jesse duplantis – this sunday 9 & 11 am

— Pastor Doug November 22, 2008 @ 12:44 am

The Cajun evangelist will be at Journey this Sunday for both Experiences. 9 AM and 11 AM.

thanksgiving tradition

— Pastor Doug November 19, 2008 @ 8:06 pm

The best time of the year is around the corner. Well, it may have already started for some of you, it has for me.  THE HOLIDAYS. We started playing Christmas music at our house right after Halloween. And we will keep playing it throughout December. The family has been busy decorating our house for Christmas. Inside and out. I’ve even been on the roof hanging icicle lights. Wow, I really hate heights. But anything for the cause ! By Thanksgiving night we will be ready to flip the switch and turn on the magic of Christmas decorations. Can’t wait.
That’s one Thanksgiving tradition that I love. Another tradition I love is Jesse Duplantis www.jdm.org visits Journey the Sunday before Thanksgiving. That’s this Sunday. He and Cathy will be with us for both the 9AM and the 11AM. If you’re coming to Saturday 6PM Worship you’re stuck with me. Jesse’s coming on Sunday only. Either way you can’t go wrong because this is going to be the best week of the year. The Christmas season officially begins.

convoy of hope at j9

— Pastor Doug November 15, 2008 @ 2:59 pm

Journey Ninth Ward and a team from Journey Northshore combined to serve thousands of our neighbors in the Ninth Ward. We set up the outreach at Frederick Douglass High School on St. Claude Avenue. We partnered with Convoy of Hope, a ministry of our Fellowship of Churches. There was live music, inflatables for the kids, hot food, haircuts, a medical tent, a ministry tent and groceries. Everything was free. It was such an honor to serve on this great community outreach. Thanks to all the Journey family who worked so hard to pull this off. Pastor Robert Burnside did an awesome job coordinating this huge event. That’s what Jesus is all about. Faith, HOPE and Love.

really good stuff

— Pastor Doug November 13, 2008 @ 7:28 pm

I had an amazing experience today. After work I stopped by the mall to take care of some business. While there I passed the Chik Fil A and stopped for a treat. I ordered a ‘Hand Spun Chocolate Shake’. It was Greeeeaaaaat. It had whipped cream with a cherry on top. That was some dessert. I suggest you have one at your earliest opportunity. Really Good Stuff.

— Pastor Doug November 9, 2008 @ 9:51 pm

We are One church in Two locations. Today we dedicated the new campus in the Ninth Ward of New Orleans, LA. What a day at Journey. We held a 11 AM and a 3 PM service and both were awesome. Zollie Smith who is the US Director of Missions for the Assemblies of God, spoke at both services. www.ag.org We installed Pastor Robert and Sherdren Burnside as Campus Pastors of J9. Hundreds of people turned out for the big day. The Journey leadership team was on top of their game. Thanks to all the folks who made this possible. The J9 Campus was dedicated debt-free. Here are a few pictures from today…We will load more pictures on the Journey Ninth Ward Campus page.
